Saddle Point Optimality Conditions in Fuzzy Optimization Problems

The fuzzy-valued Lagrangian function of fuzzy optimization problem via the concept of fuzzy scalar (inner) product is proposed. A solution concept of fuzzy optimization problem, which is essentially similar to the notion of Pareto solution in multiobjective optimization problems, is introduced by imposing a partial ordering on the set of all fuzzy numbers. Under these settings, the saddle point optimality conditions along with necessary and sufficient conditions for the absence of a duality gap are elicited.     

Short-Circuit Diffusion in Ceramics

This article discusses grain boundary diffusion in ceramics. It gives a brief review of the experimental data available for ionic oxides and the problems of interpretation associated with it. The fundamental differences between grain boundary diffusion in metals and ceramics are noted. Calculations of the segregation of defects and impurities to grain boundaries are discussed together with methods of calculating diffusion coefficients in these boundaries. New results for alumina and chromia are presented. The problem of defining a grain boundary width is discussed with respect to new calculations on nickel oxide.     

A two-level hedging point policy for controlling a manufacturing system with time-delay,demand uncertainty and extra capacity

This paper focuses on the production control of a manufacturing system with time-delay, demand uncertainty and extra capacity. Time-delay is a typical feature of networked manufacturing systems (NMS), because an NMS is composed of many manufacturing systems with transportation channels among them and the transportation of materials needs time. Besides this, for a manufacturing system in an NMS, the uncertainty of the demand from its downstream manufacturing system is considered; and it is assumed that there exist two-levels of demand rates, i.e., the normal one and the higher one, and that the time between the switching of demand rates are exponentially distributed. To avoid the backlog of demands, it is also assumed that extra production capacity can be used when the work-in-process (WIP) cannot buffer the high-level demands rate. For such a manufacturing system with time-delay, demand uncertainty and extra capacity, the mathematical model for its production control problem is established, with the objective of minimizing the mean costs for WIP inventory and occupation of extra production capacity. To solve the problem, a two-level hedging point policy is proposed. By analyzing the probability distribution of system states, optimal values of the two hedging levels are obtained. Finally, numerical experiments are done to verify the effectiveness of the control policy and the optimality of the hedging levels.

Existences theorems of systems of vector quasi-equillibrium problems and mathematical programs with equilibrium constraint

In this paper, we introduce systems of vector quasi-equilibrium problems and prove the existence of their solutions. As applications of our results, we derive the existence theorems for solution of system of vector quasi-saddle point problem, the existences theorems of a solution of system of generalized quasi-minimax inequalities, the mathematical program with equilibrium constraint, semi-infinite and bilevel problems.     

Implementation of a primal–dual method for SDP on a shared memory parallel architecture

Primal–dual interior point methods and the HKM method in particular have been implemented in a number of software packages for semidefinite programming. These methods have performed well in practice on small to medium sized SDPs. However, primal–dual codes have had some trouble in solving larger problems because of the storage requirements and required computational effort. In this paper we describe a parallel implementation of the primal–dual method on a shared memory system. Computational results are presented, including the solution of some large scale problems with over 50,000 constraints.
